Beware of Malwares – abused SEO techniques |
11 May 2010 |
Google revealed that Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques have been abused by fake antivirus and other malware programs. As of February 2010, it was found that more than 11,000 domains were involved in fake antivirus operations.
These fake AV sites have evolved to use complex JavaScript to mimic the look and feel of the Windows user interface. The malware distributors then spread the programs by using SEO techniques such as link farming, keyword stuffing, and abusing search algorithms.
Similar problems were found with other popular search engines like Yahoo and Bing.
