When Google & Bing meet Baidu in China Search Market |
05 January 2010 |
As some of the Search Easy clients are branching out in China this year, it might be a good idea to get a glimpse at the current market of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) in the Mainland, provided competition is getting fierce among Baidu, Google and Bing.
The two search engine giants Google and Yahoo – now in the form of Bing, have been trying to gain a dominant place in the China search market. With continuous efforts, Google finally comes second after the Beijing-based company Baidu, but only with a meager share of 17 % as opposed to the 77% of Baidu in the market. Although Google has grasped a foothold in the mobile search platform, Baidu has also reached a deal with China Unicom’s 3G services so as to counter-act this "nice" attempt of Google.
While Bing is hopeful of competing with Google in the new market, its performance remains yet to be seen.
Search Easy is currently working on brand-building for certain enterprises in different Chinese social media networks.
