Would You Like an iPad?

Would You Like an iPad?

No matter how nicely-designed the gadget will become, it will always be imperfect – it can’t be when its name iPad sounds like the sanitary pads my wife and daughter would use in toilet during their special period.

While the name iPad might be a fatal marketing mistake, the CEO of Apple Steve Jobs has high hopes on iPad which is expected to be a chic and functional gadget to bridge the gap between a computer and a smartphone. iPad will be a daily item to support a smooth and handy consumption of digital media: games, music, photos, videos, magazines newspapers and e-books.

Although iPad looks like an oversized iPhone, the two are far from being twins. iPad has no multi-tasking capabilities like a normal PC, no support for Linux or Adobe Flash (i.e. no videos on Youtube or Facebook), no USB port, no camera and comes with a price too high. Even the all-time fans of Apple do not think highly of it. Despite Jobs’ claim on iPad’s future success in outdoing other electronic readers, it seems unlikely for iPad to transform the way newspaper and books will be published.

Concerning the limited things that an iPad can do such as checking emails, movie-watching and book-reading, iPad is a more suitable item for the not-so-techno-savvy or the elderly. If it is so useless to be sophisticated, it is simple enough to be used by anyone.

Before iPad is to become another common portal to log onto various social media networks, iPad is now more a hotly-discussed or -criticized item on Facebook and Twitter.
