Google as a SEM Tutor, Cheers to Local Enterprises |
13 November 2009 |
Search engine giant Google is doing a big favor to Hong Kong's small and medium-sized enterprises. It has pledged to give a HK$100 million investment to launch a series of programs in training these enterprises over the use of search-engine marketing (SEM). The campaign is said to aim at reaching the 270,000 local firms who would be Google's future clients against Yahoo.
It is a web 2.0 world where interaction between individuals and participation across different social media networks are getting more and more intense. This vast pool of people, aka netizens, is a market with great potential which could open up numerous e-commerce opportunities - if the right SEM strategies are used. With Google's one-stop coaching services, local firms could get to enjoy advice and training on upgrading their websites, choosing effective search keywords, tracking Web traffic and analyzing consumer behavior online.
Newly registered firms can also enjoy a free trial period of AdWords on Google, the flagship advertising product of the search engine giant. The firms can get a taste of the effectiveness of SEM. Keywords submitted to the search engine can trigger online advertisements including text, video display and mobile advertisements, the typical routine of pay-per-click in the cyber advertising world.
It is hoped that local enterprises would stay as Google's loyal clients after this experience with SEM which is highly innovative, flexible and cost-effective in boosting businesses.
