Bing’s Visual Search is Faster

Microsoft announced at TechCrunch 50, an international conference that aims to find out the best new Web 2.0 inventions, that it will launch a visual search function for Bing, aiming to filter the search by examining the relevancy of the images in the websites to generate 50 most relevant destinations on the list of natural results, improving both the quality as well as the speed of search.

Bing's visual search result database focuses on health, leisure, travel and shopping. For example, you can type in "Digital cameras", "New cars" or "Top songs", and a list of relevant thumbnails will appear on the screen. A new set of image will appear if you further specify the search criteria like prices, product specificity or manufacturers.

The Microsoft spokesperson tells that visualizing the textual data can enhance greatly the search experience of users, as human brain is better at dealing with pictorial signals rather than words, and believes that the new function will gain a considerable popularity among internet users when it's launched, and increase the competitive power of the search engine against the market leader, Google.
