'Web 2.0' declared Millionth Word in English Language |

Web 2.0 has now become an official word in the English language and not just any word but the 1,000,000th word. Web 2.0, though had been utilized by many worldwide company and individual users and being discussed in conference in name of itself for times, is finally an official word.
New words entering into English of counting require a minimum of 25,000 citations with the necessary breadth of geographic distribution and depth of citations. Other words bidding for the position included chengguan, slumdog, Jai Ho and financial tsunami, but no, Web 2.0 was picked.
Web 2.0 refers to the second generation of web development and web design that facilitates information sharing, interoperability, user-centered design and collaboration on the World Wide Web. Examples include social-networking sites, video-sharing sites and blogs. The advent of Web 2.0 grants companies a new dimension in the world of internet of e-commerce and websites business.
The term "Web 2.0" was coined in 1999, and began its rise in popularity when the first Web 2.0 conference was hold in 2004. Surprisingly, "Blog" as an implication of the Web 2.0 generation was added in the content in 2004, while "Web 2.0" waited for 5 years to become an official word.
If this late intake shows that people is taking Web 2.0 for granted without noticing the change, companies should expeditiously start online marketing campaigns in order to penetrate into their daily practice. It needs times of effort to fight for a piece of a pie which every one had eaten, but it only needs insight to become the first-mover.
