Google and Apple: Friends or Enemies
Recently, Google and Apple these old friends may turn into new enemies. Apple's rejections of Google's Google Voice application, as well as the resign of Eric Schmidt from Apple board demonstrate the breakdown of the relationship.

Schmidt, Google's chief executive, once was a welcome face in the board of meeting of Apple. In reporting the Schmidt's departure, Apple boss Steve Jobs noted that potential conflicts as Google enters more of Apple's core businesses made it increasingly hard for the chief executive of the internet search group to participate fully in Apple board meetings.

Coincident or not, Apple recently rejected the application of Google Voice application in Apple Shop. The software would have allowed iPhone users to pull together multiple phone numbers in to a single universal number and benefit from low-cost international calls.

Once united by a mutual distrust of Microsoft, Google and Apple enjoyed a partnership rather than a competition, working together to built products and services directly into Apple's devices.

Over the last year or so, the two however have found themselves at loggerheads in the many areas of mobile phone operation system, browsers, operating systems and more.

By shifting the users of these diverse areas of technology to the Google's new software and system, Google may solid its leading position in search engine as a fight back to Microsoft's Bing. Meanwhile, with Google and Apple focusing on each other, Microsoft has a golden change to refocus its business to take the fight to its competitor. Which one will eventually be benefited from this cooling relationship is yet an open question.
